Raymond Chen just posted about the magic wands (known as Acorn wands) that were created for this years Intern Puzzle Day at Microsoft. I was there, and those were a lot of fun. Unfortunately we only got one per team, and Hans Olav still has ours.
The wands are really neat, and the Puzzle Day is a geeky — but extremely fun — way to spend a full weekend. Most of the teams who participate even take a few nights to practice, and it is usually an advantage to have experienced people on your team. Four of the people on our team (Visual Pirate Monkeys .NET 2007 Enterprise Edition, IIRC) this year, participated last year as well (Visual Pirate Monkeys .NET). There is also a Full Time Employee Puzzle Day, but luckily interns are considered full-timers at Microsoft. Never tried that one, though. It is probably just as much fun.
