I’ve updated my picture gallery, and fundamentally restructured the way it works. Instead of operating with the traditional album and sub album structure I had before, tagging is the new metaphor.
Most of you are probably familiar with how tagging works; it’s been used a lot in very varying scenarios, and flickr did it pretty successfully for pictures. I’m basing the entire gallery around them.
You can of course browse the pictures based on the tags that have been applied to them; and you can combine any tags you would like. Some of them won’t yield great results though.
I’ve also added the concept of tag-sets which I define when I upload pictures. Tag-sets are predefined tag searches, that sort of corresponds to traditional albums. However, a picture can be included in several tag-sets, so the comparison isn’t really that good.
The gallery now also supports metadata, and reads EXIF information from the images as I upload them. Many of them have been through Photoshop though, and their metadata have been silently removed by said tool. Annoying, but true.
I also added a bunch of new photos (well, not that many, really), from a trip to Scotland, and various pictures I’ve taken around Norway. There are a few new pictures from my internship at Microsoft last summer as well. I had forgotten to add them, apparently.
